What outdoor plant stands to have on your balcony

Image

In an urban area, a balcony can be an amazing way to take a breather and get some fresh air. Whether you have a Juliette balcony or a huge elevated outdoor area, you’ll want to make the most of your glorious outdoor space by adding some outdoor plants on plant stands.

To help you choose the best outdoor garden plants for your balcony, we’ve put together some of the best balcony plants and stands to help you create your ideal space.

Hedera Helix Our English Ivy

We love the English Ivy for her beautiful green leaves and little greenish-yellow flowers that bloom in summer to late autumn. She suits a recycled trough on a balcony as she’s happy in the brightest of light and the deepest of shade and is hardy enough to withstand any wind or rain.

In the winter, she produces berries and fresh foliage which add a lovely richness to any balcony. She’s super-chill to look after but she does grow and grow when she feels like it so be sure to keep her trimmed to avoid upsetting the neighbours.

Donna The Hebedonna Plant

Everyone needs a Donna on their balcony to keep them company when enjoying their morning cuppa. She’s big enough to make an impression, but small enough to fit nicely on the bottom shelf of a Plant Stand on the balcony. In the colder months her glossy leaves grow nicely, but she really comes into her own in the warmer months. Donna loves the sun, and when she’s looked after she’ll create pretty flower spikes to add a splash of colour to your balcony.

The only thing to remember with Donna is that she hails from Australasia so she likes a good drink. Keep her hydrated in the summer so that she keeps producing glorious little flowers.

Tyler The Heuchera

When it comes to effortless cool, Tyler’s got it going on. He’s perfect for a plant stand on the balcony as he’s sturdy and chilled out, and is happy enough with rainwater all year round.

He’s all about the good time and keeps his rich colour throughout the year. Unlike other perennials he doesn’t lose his leaves in the winter because he’s happiest in shade. His foliage comes in rich autumnal colours and have intricate vein-like patterns that are unique to each plant - adding a stunning brightness to your balcony.
