  • This cool customer is known fondly as a watermelon dischidia, and it’s easy to see why. Its mini oval-shaped leaves have intricate white lines, which mimic the markings found on a watermelon rind. Like its close relative the hoya plant, dischidia ovata grows long, trailing vines with dense leaves, making it an attractive hanging plant.

Dischidia ovata is native to the tropical forests of South-East Asia and Australia, where you’ll find it wrapping around other plants and trees. It likes to be reminded of home, with humid conditions and indirect light. It will also appreciate a feed once a month during spring or summer.

    Did you know?

Dischidia ovata will sometimes produce small clusters of red flowers. They grow between the stem and the leaf, and give off a strong, sweet scent.
