Guide to the best small outdoor plants

Image

Small outdoor plants can add a splash of colour, or some foliage to your garden space, whilst remaining pretty subtle. Often a small outdoor plant will compliment your garden space nicely, without breaking the bank or being difficult to look after.

We’re helping you decide which small outdoor plant is right for your space, and offering some tips on how to care for your new plant pal.

Erin - A Bright Bloomer

Image

Dainty Erin looks amazing in the summer thanks to her beautiful flowers that blossom in bright purple. Being a small plant makes her perfect for an urban balcony or smaller garden that needs brightening up. She looks great alone, or amongst other flowering plants, and is sure to make you smile as you step into your garden. She loves to be planted in well drained soil, and enjoys the sunshine, but if you really want to show Erin some love you can pick off her dead flowers after spring too.

Aggy - The Lover

Our Aggy is a bright beauty that is known for being a symbol of love. She’s a perfect small outdoor plant for creating a serene and calm atmosphere in your garden. The only things you need to watch out for are keeping her warm in winter and watering her regularly. She gets very thirsty, and will need topping up with water every now and again to keep her happy.

Tim - A Chilled Out Guy

Tim is loved by many gardeners for his bright blooms and easy going nature. He naturally grows near rocky ocean cliffs and mountains. He loves the sunshine, but can deal with windy weather too. If you want a small outdoor plant that will add a touch of style to your outdoor space, but will be really easy to maintain then Tim could be the perfect match.

Flo - Good Time Gal

Our Mediterranean dreamboat, Flo, is a flowery sensation that never fails to catch your eye. Her vibrant flowers have a long blooming period and her easy going nature means you can just leave her to it. Her only real dislike is soggy soil, so keep her well drained to get the best from her.

Dale - The King Of Colour

Dale comes all the way from Mexico originally, and has an exotic feel about him. His blooms bring an explosion of colour into any garden and no two plants are the same. You never really know how he will grow or what colour he will bring you. Part of Dale’s charm is that he’s good at surprises and looks great in a decorative pot, or planted out in the summer.

In terms of caring for this little guy, you will want to keep an eye on him in cold soil, as when temperatures get too low he won’t grow.
